Numeric Password Generator
Generate a random digits-only password for systems that don't accept letters or symbols. Use as many digits as the system allows, since a numeric pool needs more length to match a full character set's security.

Numeric Passwords Need More Length
A digits-only pool has just 10 possible characters, compared to roughly 94 for a password using uppercase, lowercase, numbers and symbols. To reach the same entropy, a numeric password needs to be considerably longer.
| Target entropy | Full charset (94) | Numeric only (10) |
|---|---|---|
| ~52 bits (Fair) | 8 characters | 16 digits |
| ~78 bits (Strong) | 12 characters | 24 digits |
| ~105 bits (Very Strong) | 16 characters | 32 digits |
If the system you're using accepts letters, prefer our Strong Password Generator instead. You'll reach the same security with far fewer characters.
Frequently Asked Questions
Some legacy systems, phone-based (IVR) authentication, point-of-sale terminals, and physical numeric keypads only accept digit input. It's a hardware or software constraint, not a security best practice, so use letters and symbols whenever the system allows it.
Not at the same length. A 10-character digit pool needs roughly double the length of a full 94-character pool to reach equivalent entropy. Use the maximum length the target system permits.
To match the security of a 12-character full-charset password (~78 bits), aim for around 24 digits. See the comparison table above for other targets.
